Tori Telfer's biography.

Tori Telfer

Tori Telfer writes about crime, history, and culture. She graduated magna cum laude from Northwestern University and has been a full-time freelance writer for the past 10+ years. Her writing has appeared in The Believer, The Atlantic (online), Rolling Stone (online), Smithsonian (online), Vulture, Salon, Vice, Longreads, Racked, Jezebel, The Hairpin, The Awl,  and elsewhere. (See Clips.) She’s the host of the crime podcasts Criminal Broads, Red Flags (Investigation Discovery), and Why Women Kill (CBS All Access). See Podcasts for more details.

Her first book, LADY KILLERS (Harper Perennial), was published in 2017. It's a "thrilling character study of the most diabolically complex, fascinating female psychopaths in history,” writes New York Times bestselling author M. William Phelps. Her second book, CONFIDENT WOMEN, came out in 2021. It’s a little less bloody, and it’s absolutely packed with pseudonyms. “Assured prose complements the vivid portraits. True crime fans are in for a treat,” writes Publisher’s Weekly.

She is currently at work on a new season of Criminal Broads and some casual writing about not-so-casual motherhood over on Substack. She lives in Chattanooga with her husband and three especially adorable children.
